  1. If you want to get a lot of stamina training, limit yourself to using much much harder gears and climb your local hills. Coz all i have is a 6 speed folding bike with the front having a 42T and the rear with a 32T at its biggest and let me tell you, it aint pretty climbing those hills. But once you do get used to it, switching back to a normal 7+ speed bike with proper gear ratios feels like a breeze climbing. Plus you learn how to control your pacing and breathing if you actively do so.

  2. Relax, conserve and choose line. Same as downhill but slower…get fit and have ability to switch off and enjoy whats around when in comfortable gear

  3. I just wanna say yall are hands down the best mt bike channel. Like I've had just about any of my questions answered without even going out much

  4. Recently bought an xc bike with a 2×12 system. Best decision ever! I can go fast on flats and long descents, AND climb steep hills too without any compromises. True freedom, which is exactly what riding should mean. Not going 1x, probably until internal gearbox systems get bigger range and become more affordable.

  5. Use a heart rate monitor for pacing if you normally struggle, then find a number that you can maintain and stick to it.

  6. Tire Pressure: go high! Unless it's a really technical one, the less "drag" of pumped up tires will help. Or if you are planning on climbing a hill on beggining of the ride to come back down, go 40PSi up, and adjust at the top to come back down.

  8. If you have stopped on a climb don't start head on. If possible try to start on an angle to the climb and start riding up once you're properly seated and clipped in.

  9. A lot of my mates don't comprehend the "going slow and steady" part they just change to 22 in the front and 42/46 in the back and try to climb fast, half way up they already wasted all of their energy, they call me crazy because I use 36 in the front and 34/36 in the back but I go slow and controlling my breathing
