The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) started off their IPL 2020 campaign in a stunning fashion with a brilliant 5-wicket win over the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the tournament opener. The three-time winners will be hoping to carry on with the winning momentum as they face the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the fourth match of IPL 2020. The Royals, who have a pretty star-studded line-up on offer, will be playing their first match in this edition of the IPL and thus, they will be looking to start thing off on a winning note.
Rajasthan Royals have once again beckoned their trust on Steve Smith as their captain for this season along with star overseas players like Jofra Archer, David Miller, Jos Buttler, Tom Curran and Andrew Tye. However, their swashbuckling opener Jos Buttler won’t be available for this game due to the quarantine restrictions. The Royals will also be looking to make full use of Robin Uthappa’s IPL experience.
On the other hand, Chennai seemed to have got their combination pretty much settled from the first match itself as has been the case over the years in the IPL. The only change which they would be stressing on will be to play Ruturaj Gaikwad instead of Murali Vijay. After his amazing performance in the first game, head coach Stephen Fleming was very much impressed with Sam Curran and the former also mentioned that the all-rounder’s inclusion has improved the balance of the team.
When: September 20 at 7:30 PM IST
Where: Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah
Head-to-Head Battle: There have been 22 matches played between these two teams so far in the IPL wherein Chennai have won 14 of them while Rajasthan have won 8 matches.
What to expect from the pitch: The Sharjah Cricket Stadium will be hosting its first match this year and thus, it will be a fresh pitch. It is expected to be a high-scoring encounter as the Sharjah track is touted to be a batsmen friendly wicket.
Chennai Super Kings’ Likely Playing XI
The MS Dhoni-led side is likely to go with the same playing eleven for the second game as well. England all-rounder Sam Curran looked in great touch both with the bat and ball. After spending around two weeks in isolation, Ruturaj Gaikwad is likely to walk straight away into the eleven. If he is fit, Murali Vijay will have to warm the bench.
Probable XI: Murali Vijay/Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Lungi Ngidi.
Rajasthan Royals’ Likely Playing XI
The Rajasthan Royals will surely miss their star opener Jos Buttler’s services in the first game. However, the man to watch out for will be going to be Yashasvi Jaiswal who impressed everyone and thus, many eyes will be on him. With both Buttler and Ben Stokes not available in the first match, the Royals have a great opportunity to play the likes of David Miller, Jofra Archer and Tom Curran in the same eleven. They also have three frontline spin options in Shreyas Gopal, Rahul Tewatia and Mayank Markande.
Probable XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (wk), Robin Uthappa, Steve Smith (C), David Miller, Riyan Parag, Tom Curran, Shreyas Gopal, Jofra Archer, Jaydev Unadkat, Rahul Tewatia.
