How to sew a surgical mask - video tutorial

Author by: Teresa DownUnder

  1. Fabric (2 pc ) 7-1/2 inches by 8 inches >>>> ELASTIC Band 6 INCHES >>>> BIAS TAPE / BINDING 6 inches in length x 2in wide

  2. Please be aware that these masks will NOT protect you from COVID-19, which can be transmitted airborne and are MICRO droplets. These masks can possibly protect you from larger droplet infections, but once again, they do NOT protect you from COVID-19, and in fact may do the opposite. They may make you complacent about touching your face with your hands in order to readjust the placement of the mask on your face. Your best defense is self-isolation as much as possible and using soap and water to your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds at a time.

  3. I really appreciate the great tutorial. Makes it all better and adds to the incentive to complete. As always, thanks.

  4. Well, if we have to have a mask why not have an adorable one with kitties and polkie dots, right? haaaa. Helps to have something to smile about. Thank you for sharing.

  5. Thanks for the great video. One question….which side do I put the pleats on? The 71/2 side or the 8 inch side?

  6. Why would you use a grey lined pattern fabric in this demo? Makes it all harder to see amd understand. Can't tell the inside from outside of the fabric either. Jeesh!

  7. Thank you, Teresa, you are an angel. My son texted me 10 minutes ago asking me to make him a mask, and I was sitting here dumbfounded, wondering about size, etc. Happy Quilting Day {{}} Stay safe–
