Doom Eternal Multiplayer Review: Reviewed on PC by Ryan McCaffrey. FYI, this review specifically covers the Battlemode multiplayer side of Doom Eternal. For our thoughts on the campaign, check out the single-player review.

In summary: Doom Eternal is a game that demands and respects player skill, and while Battlemode doesn’t allow you to put yours to the ultimate test on a traditional level playing field, it is nevertheless a clever mode that’s a lot of fun if you’re willing to give it a try and get to know its nuances.

  1. I would have preferred a traditional arena style mode, I think the reason they didn't do it though is because everyone complained about it last time. I loved it though.

  2. The balance of Battlemode isn’t perfect I agree, but I don’t think it’s balance is as bad as people say it is. I used to get smacked as the slayer non stop, but then I realized what weapons to use and how to stay mobile and hard to hit while affectively dealing damage to the demons. Time will tell more, but as of right now I don’t think it’s in a bad spot balance wise just gotta know what you’re doing as the slayer

  3. None of the maps are “recycled” from the campaign. They’re all based on environments but they’re still uniquely built for the mode

  4. I won a lot of games as the slayer, to me it isn’t even hard. I’ve been stuck on battle mode. I beat the campaign in a day on nightmare

  5. Should’ve just implanted the multiplayer from Doom 2016 into Eternal. Hopefully their working on it and we’ll get it as a surprise later on. HOPEFULLY

  6. Lag causes this to be completely unfair. It stops everyone but damage can still be done so the slayer can only attack one demon while both demons use toxic gass aoe effects which do massive damage and once the servers regain control all of the accumulated damage kills the slayer. Me and my friend won
every time as demons and still haven't lost.

  7. Only thing thing is you need a lot more skill as a slayer to win, then to win as a demon. And the fact there are no leaderboards or unlocks makes this mode really barebones

  8. I'm planning to play this once I finish the story. I'm gonna ignore the people who say it's bad and see what I think of it

  9. Played this for 3 hours or so. Literally won every game with marauder or pain elemental and lost every single game with the slayer. Nice balance.

  10. nah dude i feel like you guys are being way too forgiving, the campaign is amazing but the multiplayer is extremely laggy, unbalanced, and just outright bad. like i said love the game, but this multiplayer just straight up is not fun

  11. Doom 2016 MP was fun, but never went back.

This looks like fun. Once I finish the campaign it’s on!

  12. Dude ur right the slayer is honestly underpowered and in multiplayer but the demons are fun they need to fix it

  13. Battlemode is great, don’t get me wrong, but they should’ve added the deathmatch from Doom(2016) also

  14. Once you get into the rhythm as Slayer it's incredible, you just gotta take advantage of your mobility and know your weapons really well. Even the slightest lag ruins a match sadly but imo this mode is very skill based and super fun. Hate all the sweaty try hards blaming they're team mates for losing s round though! The games not been out a week stop being toxic and telling team mates to get gud! A lot of fun 🤘

  15. juegazoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  16. slayer is way to powerfull atm they really need to nerf the damage he does its insane how easy it is to kill some demons.

  17. If the demons work together the slayer almost never wins which makes sense but it should be a little more balanced or atleast tilted toward the slayer so that the demons have to work together to have a chance.

  18. Hate Eternal's multiplayer. I was one of the fourteen people who actually loved Doom 16's deathmatch modes.
